Overview
The WEBENCH® Power Architect lets engineers quickly design and simulate a complete power supply system for any number of supplies and outputs. System designers can optimize the entire power supply system for small footprint, high efficiency, and cost in minutes.
SELECT: Enter your simple specifications. Power Architect allows you to enter individual load specifications as well as system specifications. You can choose to add Hot Swap or Isolated supplies and multiple sources. Add FPGA, Microprocessor, or DDR loads as well as generic loads that can be tailored to your system requirements for separate supplies, load switches, or LDOs. Filter your preferred solutions for PMIC/PMUs, modules and Simple Switcher solutions, and automotive applications. You can also set up your sequencing for the power supplies if required.
DESIGN: Once you have configured your complete power supply solution, you can submit the project requirements. Power Architect will develop several solutions for you to explore. Use the Optimizer Knob to refine your solutions or click on the solution list to see the system power tree and Project performance information for each solution. Once the best solution is chosen, view the project details to begin the project refining process.
ANALYZE: The power supply system is now ready for you to analyze. Compare tradeoffs using the power dissipation, BOM cost, and Footprint project charts. Choose preferred parts for individual power supply tree branches, move branches from one source to another by editing the power tree, and optimize the solution to your specific project needs. Create the project and use the same analysis tools for each individual power supply that the Power Designer supports for Electrical and Thermal simulation, Re-Compensation, and the Schematic Editor. Additionally, you can refine the individual supply designs using the BOM, Schematic window, OpVals, Charts, and Optimizer Knob.
EXPORT: Once you have completed your individual tailoring of the supplies to a robust solution, you can use the powerful export tools from Power Designer (Schematic export, PCB export, Simulation export, complete PDF documentation and Build-It) to create your prototype for a complete power supply solution.
